These moose were photographed in various locations between Seward, Alaska and Denali National Park. The survival rate of moose calves in Denali is very low due to the harsh conditions, including falling to prey for bears and wolves. Outside Denali, many moose are injured and killed by automobiles. Moose are the largest member of the deer family. A male can weigh as much as 1600 pounds. A female can weigh up to 1300 pounds. Only males have antlers.
